The First Five

Networking Series for Early Career Veterinarians

The First Five program is for IVMA members who graduated from veterinary school between 2022 – 2026.

About the Program

The First Five program consists of monthly Zoom sessions featuring a presenter on a key topic in veterinary medicine. Each interactive discussion provides an opportunity to listen, learn, and connect with colleagues from across the profession. From navigating complex case management decisions to reflecting on mentoring successes and challenges, each session encourages open dialogue and shared growth. Designed especially for recent graduates, this program offers a trusted space where your voice is heard, your questions are welcomed, and your experiences are valued—helping you build confidence and discover practical strategies to thrive in your veterinary career. Participate in each month's Zoom meeting or register for the months/topics that work for you. Participants must be graduates between 2022 - 2026. Participate in some or all of the monthly Zoom meetings!

Building Community & Connections

Beyond the clinical discussions, these gatherings are about building community. Veterinary medicine can sometimes feel isolating in the early years, but through this program, members find encouragement and the reassurance that others are navigating similar challenges. The goal is to create connections that last well beyond the Zoom calls—mentorships, friendships, and professional networks that strengthen both individual careers and the veterinary profession as a whole. Whether you’re seeking guidance, eager to share your experiences, or simply interested in learning more about key topics in veterinary medicine, this program is for you. Join us each month as we foster a space where collaboration, growth, and support are always at the forefront. Click on each link below to register via Zoom for the upcoming sessions. There is no cost to participate for IVMA members! Participants will receive one hour of continuing education for each monthly session in which they participate.
