First year veterinary students are welcomed to the profession with dinner and stethoscopes provided by Patterson Veterinary Supply. The Stethoscope Dinner for the Class of 2029 was held on Tuesday evening, August 26, 2025. This is a time-honored tradition for IVMA and PVM students.
Scholarship applications will be accepted for scholarships for applicants who are 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th year veterinary students. The selected students will be recognized, and scholarship checks presented in February 2026. The Indiana Animal Health Foundation is offering 2 – $1000 scholarships to selected students. The Indiana Veterinary Medical Association is offering 4 – $1000 scholarships to selected students. The online application is due by October 30, 2025.
Insights Discovery Training is offered to all incoming first year classes during your onboarding week at Purdue. What is Insights? Based on four colors, Insights Discovery helps individuals learn more about their preferred behaviors, the strengths they bring, and the challenges they’re likely to face. The best thing about Insights Discovery is that it shows us how we prefer to act – or the space we’re most comfortable in – but it reminds us that personality is fluid; every individual can draw on their less inclined behaviors to handle the demands of specific situations. But they can only do this when they’re self-aware. This programming is generously offered by IVMA and Elanco Animal Health. IVMA works with PVM faculty to offer periodic Insights Discovery follow-up learning opportunities during your time at Purdue. When you graduate, you will have received important knowledge that will stay with you throughout your entire career.
We offer COMPLIMENTARY Student Registration for the IVMA’s Crossroads Veterinary Conference, February 5-7, 2026 at the Embassy Suites Noblesville. Registration will be available in November 2025.
