Dr. Julie Trzil
Dr. Julie Trzil received her veterinary degree from the University of Tennessee in 2009. She completed a rotating internship at Texas A&M University in 2010, followed by an internal medicine specialty internship at Memphis Veterinary Specialists in 2011.
Dr. Trzil then completed a small animal internal medicine residency and concurrent master’s degree in biomedical sciences at the University of Missouri in 2014. Her research focused on the use of stem cells in the treatment of feline asthma. She has a strong professional interest in the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory diseases.

Nasal Disease: Getting to the Source of the Sniffles
Nasal disease can be frustrating to diagnose. This lecture will present a practical approach to evaluating patients with nasal disease and building a focused differential list. We will discuss how clinical presentation, diagnostic imaging, rhinoscopy, and other testing can help distinguish the cause of the disease. We will also review treatment options and approaches to the chronically “snotty” cat.
Session 2 / November 11:
The Coughing Dog: Finding the Cause and Building a Better Treatment Plan
Is the chronically coughing dog wearing you and your client out? This lecture will provide a practical framework for diagnostic investigation. We will discuss how to maximize the diagnostic value of airway lavage, including patient selection, sample collection, and interpretation of cytology and culture results. Using a case-based approach, we will explore the diagnosis and management of common airway diseases and discuss how diagnostic findings can be translated into a targeted, effective treatment plan.
