Meet The 2025 IVMA Candidates

Meet The 2025 IVMA Candidates

Dr. Kristi Kantz

Georgetown, IN

President

Dr. Kristi Kantz grew up in Troy, MI. She became interested in veterinary medicine as a career through
her involvement in horses and working at a small local boarding facility. She received her Bachelor of
Science at Wayne State University and her DVM degree from Michigan State University in 1998. She was
a member and held a variety of leadership positions as a student in SCAVMA, the International
Veterinary Association, and the student chapter of AAEP.
A job opportunity that included medical student loan disbursement for her husband (family physician)
required a move to Southern Indiana in 2001 and they never looked back. Currently, they are almost
empty nesters with 3 children in college. Dr. Kantz is currently a small animal practitioner in Southern
Indiana.
Dr. Kantz became involved in the IVMA when she suffered a pretty significant case of burnout and was
looking for new ways to be inspired by the profession. The IVMA has provided the perfect opportunity
to collaborate with fellow veterinarians on issues facing our profession. She is passionate about
mentoring young professionals, work-life balance, and addressing student debt. In her free time, she still
loves to ride her horses, walk her dogs, travel, and spend time with her family.

Dr. Matthew Hobson

Muncie, IN

President - Elect

Dr. Hobson’s first position was as associate veterinarian at Care Animal Hospital in Muncie, IN and in 2017, he became a practice owner. In late 2020, he partnered with Mission Veterinary Partners and serves as a Medical Director for 3 small animal practices in central Indiana.

Dr. Hobson has been a member of the IVMA since the start of his career and is excited to expand his veterinary service as a board member for the IVMA. When he’s not at work, Dr. Hobson enjoys spending time with his wife, Libby, and their 3 daughters: Piper, Perry, and Josephine.

Dr. Michelle Roberts

Greenfield, IN

At-Large Board Member

Dr. Michele Roberts is the Senior Director of Product & Veterinary Support at Elanco. She graduated from the Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2008 and worked as an associate veterinarian in a companion animal practice for 4.5 years before transitioning to industry. She has been a member of the CRVC working group since 2013 and is specifically interested in client communication, talent development, and shelter medicine.

Dr. Roberts lives in Greenfield with her husband and their two teenagers. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, showing horses with her daughter, and watching her son play tennis.

Dr. Patrick Dorroh

LaPorte, IN

At-Large Board Member

Dr. Dorroh is a native of Western Kentucky and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from the University of Kentucky. He went on to graduate from Auburn University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1985. He practiced in Kentucky for 21 years before purchasing All Creature Features Animal Hospital in 2006 and relocated to La Porte, Indiana. During his 18 years at All Creature Features Dr. Dorroh also served as one of the La Porte County Veterinarians, was a member of the La Porte County Animal Control Board, and worked at the Stevens Treatment Center adjacent to the La Porte County Animal Shelter several days a month. He also served 9 years on the La Porte County Board of Health. In 2019 Dr. Dorroh received CCRP certification for animal rehabilitation from the University of Tennessee.

In 2024 Dr Dorroh relocated and accepted the position of Managing Veterinarian at Village East Animal Hospital in Evansville, IN.

He resides with his wife Marla and is the proud father of three adult children and two beautiful grandchildren. He is also the proud pet parent of a very spoiled fur baby, Daisy, a Goldendoodle, and Cleo, an Umbrella Cockatoo. When away from the office Dr. Dorroh enjoys traveling and spending time with his family often attending soccer and basketball games, and tennis matches with his grandchildren.

Dr. Courtney Smock

Jeffersonville, IN

Region 3

Dr. Courtney Smock grew up in Greencastle, IN and earned her DVM degree from Purdue University in 2010. After graduation she practiced in Albuquerque, NM for a few years before moving back to Southern Indiana to start a small animal practice with her spouse Dr. David Rowland – they now have two clinics in Jeffersonville and New Albany.

When she is not in the clinic, Dr. Smock continues to work diligently to convince her two cats that they CAN be trained. She also enjoys playing pinball both casually and competitively and helps run the Southern Indiana Pinball League.
