About the Speaker

Dr. Steve Birchard is a board-certified veterinary surgeon with over four decades of experience in clinical practice and academic medicine. After graduating from The University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine, he completed his surgical residency at Purdue College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Birchard worked as a staff surgeon at the prestigious Animal Medical Center in New York City, and then served on the faculty at Ohio State University, where he trained countless residents and contributed extensively to the veterinary surgical literature. He is the chief editor of the Saunders Manual of Small Animal Practice and a sought-after national speaker known for making complex surgical topics practical and engaging.
